Minnesota Burns Vancouver in OT

Hockey Betting Lines

03/14/2007 - Vancouver, BC (Sportsbook Betting Lines) - Brent Burns tallied the game-winner with 35.8 seconds remaining in overtime as Minnesota came back from a two-goal deficit to beat Vancouver, 3-2, at General Motors Place.

In the extra session, Marian Gaborik gained control of the puck in the Vancouver zone and carried it in front of the net, hitting Burns with a pass and allowing him to tap a wrister past a sprawled out Roberto Luongo for the come-from-behind victory.

This was the second straight game Burns netted the game-winner in OT. On Sunday, Burns scored with only 18.9 seconds left to give the Wild a 3-2 win over Colorado.

Mikko Koivu and Brian Rolston also scored for the Wild, who have won four in a row and moved within one point of the Canucks atop the Northwest Division.

Netminder Niklas Backstrom turned aside 22 of the 24 shots he faced en route to his 16th win of the season.

Jan Bulis and Matt Cooke had goals for the Canucks, who have dropped two straight for just the second time since January 19 and 26. Jeff Cowan notched two assists, while Luongo made 26 saves in defeat.

Trailing 2-0 after one period, Minnesota controlled the rest of the game with three unanswered scores.

First, Koivu's goal -- a 22-foot wrister -- cut Minnesota's deficit to 2-1 at the 7:52 mark in the second. Keith Carney slipped the disk to Koivu, who lifted it from the right circle over Luongo's glove side.

Then, with 3:23 left in regulation, Rolston netted the equalizer with a 53- foot slap shot from the point.

Vancouver went up 1-0 just 4:37 into the first period on Bulis' 20-foot wrister, and two minutes later, the Canucks made it a two-goal contest when Cooke tallied with a tip-in.
