Edwards grabs pole for Nationwide race at Texas

Autoracing Betting Lines

10/31/2008 - Ft. Worth, TX (Sportsbook Betting Lines) - Carl Edwards continued his winning momentum in the Nationwide Series by capturing the pole for Saturday's O'Reilly Challenge at the Texas Motor Speedway. The No.60 Roush Fenway Racing Ford driver turned in a qualifying lap of 28.708 seconds (188.101 m.p.h.).

Edwards recorded his fourth pole of the season and the 11th of his Nationwide career.

"I'm really excited about the race," Edwards said. "We closed some points on Clint (Bowyer) last week, and our car is really good this week. It's going to be a good one."

Edwards revived his title defense in the series last Saturday with a victory at Memphis.

Edwards led 185 of 253 laps and held off a hard-charging David Reutimann in a green-white-checkered finish for his fifth win of the season. He also trimmed Clint Bowyer's lead from 196 points to 116 with three races to go. Bowyer struggled throughout the race, particularly when he spun on lap 125 after making contact with Scott Lagasse, and ended up finishing 16th.

Starting alongside Edwards will be fellow Sprint Cup regular Kevin Harvick, who posted a time of 28.941 seconds.

Bobby Hamilton, Jr. and Kyle Busch will start on the second row, while David Stremme and Mark Martin will make up row three.

Mark Martin, Stephen Leicht, Joey Logano, Jason Leffler and Brian Vickers will start sixth through 10th, respectively.

Bowyer will roll off 21st.

Edwards hopes his points momentum will continue at Texas, where he clinched his first series title one year ago. He has yet to win a Nationwide race at the 1.5-mile track, but his best finish in seven starts there is third, coming in 2005 and '07.

Bowyer, meanwhile, has done well at Texas the past year, scoring top-five finishes in the last two races here.

Busch leads the series with nine victories this year, and is one win away from tying Sam Ard's 1983 record of 10 victories in a season. He is the defending race winner.

The green flag is scheduled to drop Saturday around 3:30 p.m. (et).

Matt Kenseth And Kevin Harvick Favorites To Take NASCAR Nextel Cup Championship

(September 15)—The NASCAR season has hit the homestretch with the opening event on this year’s Chase for the Cup taking place this weekend at the Sylvania 300 at New Hampshire International Speedway. With 10 races remaining to determine the Cup Series champion, leading online sportsbook MySportsbook.com today announced odds on all 10 Chase qualifying drivers capturing the NASCAR Sprint Cup Championship.

One of the largest sportsbook sites on the Internet, MySportsbook.com currently lists the top two drivers in the point standings as the early favorites to win the Nextel Cup. Entering the Chase for the Cup with a slim five-point lead in the point standings, 2003 NASCAR champ Matt Kenseth has been made a slight favorite to win his second Cup at 7/2 betting odds. 2001 Cup Rookie of the Year Kevin Harvick has betting odds listed at 5/2 and four-time NASCAR champion Jeff Gordon is listed at 6/1 to capture the Nextel Cup this year.

Hoping to follow in the footsteps of his legendary father who won six NASCAR titles, Dale Earnhardt Jr. stands at 8/1 to breakthrough with his first Cup victory. Staying with the family theme, MySportsbook.com lists 2005 Rookie of the Year Kyle Busch at 14/1 to succeed big brother Kurt’s 2004 NASCAR title. While Kasey Kahne was the final driver to qualify for the Chase with a third place finish last week, the oddsmakers give him a fighting chance at 10/1 mainly due to several mile-and-a-half tracks remaining on the schedule. Despite going winless on the NASCAR circuit this season, Jeff Burton enters the Chase at 5/1 to capture the Cup title. Meanwhile, rookie Denny Hamlin is 4/1 to win the championship, while veteran driver Mark Martin enters the Chase for the Cup as a 15/1 long shot to win his first NASCAR title in his 24th and final season.

MySportsbook.com will offer comprehensive Nascar betting lines on every race remaining on the Nextel Cup series including driver match-ups, props and odds to win each race. For a complete list of NASCAR odds, please visit www.MySportsbook.com.

MySportsbook.com: NBA Championship Odds

With the playoffs about two months away, the top two teams in the Western Conference are the clear cut leaders to win the NBA Championship. The Dallas Mavericks have the best record in the NBA (44-9) and have been absolutely scorching since the second week of the season.  What makes the Mavs’ record more impressive is the fact that they dropped their first four games of the season.  Currently they have won 17 out of their last 18 and are MySportsbook.com’s favorite (2-1) to win it all.  Right behind the Mavs are the Pacific leading Phoenix Suns (39-13).  Last season, the Suns lost in the Conference Finals to non-other then the Mavericks four games to two.  Of course the Suns were without center Amare Stoudemire who has is averaging 19.9 PPG and 9.5 RPG since coming back from his knee injury.  Unlike the Mavs, the Suns have struggled a bit lately having lost their last three and four out of their last seven.  Of course the main reason for their three straight loses is due to the absence of two time MVP Steve Nash, who is out with a shoulder injury.  Heads-up, the Mavs have beaten the Suns in both of their meetings this season.

In the Eastern Conference, the Pistons (32-19) are the favorites to win it all at 6-1. The addition of Chris Webber seems to have been a good move for the Pistons.  Since coming over from the 76ers, Webber has averaged 13.1 PPG and 7.3 RPG and the Pistons are 11-4.  Even though the defending champion Heat are currently on the playoff making cusp, they are the Eastern Conference team that is getting the most action to win it all (9-1).  The fact that Shaquille O’Neal is back in the starting lineup after missing 39 games probably has something to do with this.  No doubt, Shaq makes a difference when in the lineup as their winning six out of their last seven would indicate.

Just because it is the All-Star break doesn’t mean that you can’t bet on NBA hoops this weekend.  Be sure to log onto MySportsbook.com to bet on who you think will cut down the nets this July. Also, be sure to check out all of the lines and props for All-Star weekend.  With the highest credit card acceptance rate in the industry, there are plenty of ways to cash in on the NBA this weekend.
